A military helicopter transported gold from Barrick's Loulo-Gounkoto mining complex in Mali, following a court-appointed administrator's attempt to sell the gold to fund operations. The site, Mali's largest gold mine, has been under suspension since January due to a dispute over a new mining code. The administrator aims to restart mining activities by selling the stored gold, valued at approximately $107 million.
