The WHO official, Margaret Harris, has stated that the increase in common respiratory infections in China, particularly during winter and spring, is normal. According to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the pathogens causing these infections are known ones, including seasonal influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Human metapneumovirus (HMPV), and SARS-CoV-2.
