Firefighters managed to halt the spread of the Hughes Fire north of Los Angeles, which had caused evacuation orders for 31,000 residents and destroyed 41 square km of land. Governor Gavin Newsom signed a $2.5 billion relief package for wildfire-stricken areas. The Hughes Fire, along with the Eaton and Palisades fires, have been burning for over two weeks and have caused significant damage.
