💨 Abstract

The Deputy Commissioner of Kurram district in northwest Pakistan, Javedullah Mehsud, was injured in a firing incident on his convoy on Saturday, days after a peace agreement was reached in the violence-hit zone. Mehsud, who had played a key role in restoring peace in the area, was shot thrice during negotiations with protestors who had blocked the main road. The attack is suspected to be by local spoilers and is condemned by government officials.
