💨 Abstract
An Israeli-American hostage, Edan Alexander, was released by Hamas and crossed into Israel on Monday. The release came after 19 months of captivity and was facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross. Fighting in Gaza paused temporarily for his release, but there is no broader truce. Alexander's condition was reported as "low." Hamas released him as a goodwill gesture to U.S. President Donald Trump, who is visiting the region.
