💨 Abstract
A study published in The Lancet suggests that the official Palestinian tally of deaths in the Israel-Hamas war undercounted casualties by around 40% in the first nine months, with 64,260 deaths from traumatic injury estimated, 41% higher than the official Palestinian Health Ministry count. The study used a statistical method called capture-recapture analysis to better account for deaths in conflict zones, such as those in Kosovo and Sudan.
