💨 Abstract
Germany and the Philippines have agreed to bolster defense ties, signing an arrangement to enhance cooperation in cyber security, defense armament, logistics, and UN peacekeeping. This move is part of Manila's effort to strengthen its alliances amid a dispute with China over the South China Sea. The Philippines is diversifying its defense partnerships beyond the U.S., recently signing deals with New Zealand, Japan, and soon with Canada and France.
