💨 Abstract
In the Brandenburg regional election, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) is expected to finish first, beating Chancellor Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats in one of their traditional strongholds. The AfD has been capitalizing on economic concerns, immigration issues, and the Ukraine war, particularly in formerly Communist eastern Germany. The AfD is not likely to form a regional government due to other parties' refusal to work with them.
