💨 Abstract
An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude struck off Crete, Greece, generating tremors felt in Turkey and Israel. The quake, which occurred 79 km off Heraklion, caused shaking but no reports of severe damage or injuries. This event highlights Greece's susceptibility to seismic activity, following earlier disturbances on the island of Santorini which led to evacuations. The earthquake occurred at the start of the summer tourist season.
