💨 Abstract
Guinea's coup leader, Mamady Doumbouya, has been elected president with 86.72% of the vote, according to provisional results. The former special forces commander seized power in 2021, ousting President Alpha Conde. This election marks a return to civilian rule in Guinea and is part of a series of nine coups in West and Central Africa since 2020. The Supreme Court has eight days to validate the results.
