💨 Abstract

After heavy rains this weekend in New Zealand's Tasman and Nelson regions, local cleanup efforts began Monday. Many were forced to leave their homes, with an estimated 400+ affected properties and multiple schools and roads closed. Emergency teams have assessed hundreds of properties, with more visits planned. Mayor Tim King estimates hundreds of residences are severely damaged, some uninhabitable.
