The US, as the largest donor for global health, may reinstate the Mexico City Policy (global gag rule) under President Trump, restricting aid to organizations that provide or even advise on abortion services. This rule, if implemented, could have significant consequences worldwide, increasing maternal and child mortality, unsafe abortions, and HIV infections, particularly in countries heavily dependent on US aid, such as Nepal.
