💨 Abstract

The U.S. is sending the THAAD missile defense system to Israel, following President Joe Biden's authorization amid the West Asia crisis. THAAD, designed to intercept targets outside and inside the atmosphere, defends population centers and high-value infrastructure against short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles. The system, which is interoperable with other missile defenses, uses 'hit-to-kill' technology for high accuracy.
