💨 Abstract
In Georgia's Russia-backed region of Abkhazia, protesters occupying the parliament building refused to leave, as a condition for the region's president's resignation. The president, Aslan Bzhania, had offered to resign and hold a snap election once the protesters vacated the building. The protesters accuse Bzhania of using close ties with Russia for personal gain.
