💨 Abstract

Italian police arrested 33-year-old Chinese man Xu Zewei in Milan on a U.S. warrant for alleged industrial espionage. Xu is accused of being part of a hacking team that targeted U.S. universities, researchers, and a Texas-based research university in 2020, aiming to steal COVID-19 vaccine research. He faces charges of wire fraud, identity theft, conspiracy, and unauthorized computer access. Xu's extradition hearing is scheduled for July 8.
