đź’¨ Abstract
Lebanon expelled approximately 70 Syrian military personnel, including a relative of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, on Saturday for illegally crossing into Lebanon. The Syrians were returned to Syria and subsequently detained by Syria's new ruling authorities following a security crackdown on "remnants" of the Assad regime. The incident comes after many senior Syrian officials fled to Lebanon following Assad's regime being toppled.
