Lebanese President Joseph Aoun began consultations with lawmakers to designate a prime minister, with incumbent Najib Mikati and International Court of Justice President Nawaf Salam in a tight race. The prime minister must be a Sunni Muslim and Aoun, backed by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, will designate the candidate with the most support among parliament's 128 lawmakers. The outcome is expected by the end of the day.
