Mexico's daily murder rate has dropped nearly 40% since President Claudia Sheinbaum took office, with December 2025 seeing an average of 52.4 homicides per day, down from 86.9 in September 2024. The 2025 national murder rate was 17.5 per 100,000 people, the lowest since 2015.
