Russia accused Japan of treachery and complicity in theft after Tokyo signed a $3 billion loan agreement with Ukraine, using funds from frozen Russian assets. Russia's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, stated that such actions would damage already strained relations between the two countries and would be regarded as complicity in theft. Russia also stated that Tokyo's actions were extremely hostile and treacherous.
