The outgoing Biden administration is urged to impose sanctions on Myanmar's state-owned Myanma Economic Bank to cut off foreign currency for the military junta, as it is being used to circumvent existing U.S. restrictions. Dozens of Myanmar civil society groups have written to the State and Treasury departments asking for the bank to be blocked from the dollar-based financial system.
