A wildfire named Hughes Fire, 50 miles north of Los Angeles, started on Wednesday, burning 3,407 acres and forcing evacuations due to an immediate threat to life. Southern California remains under a red flag warning for extreme fire risk. Simultaneously, two fires burning for over two weeks in the metropolitan area, Eaton Fire (91% contained) and Palisades Fire (68% contained), are getting under control.
