💨 Abstract

The Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ) has initiated a legal action against Northern Ireland's regional government for failing to fulfill a 20-year-old statutory obligation to develop an anti-poverty strategy. Poverty rates have increased, particularly in areas with Irish nationalist majorities, such as West Belfast, where one-third of children live in poverty.
