The Philippines, under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has enacted two new maritime laws (Philippine Maritime Zones Act and Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act) to safeguard its territory in the South China Sea. These laws aim to establish archipelagic sea lanes and affirm its maritime zones, strengthening its position in territorial disputes with China.
