Prominent Pakistani scholar Mufti Shah Mir was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Balochistan province, shortly after leaving a mosque following night prayers. Mir was a close associate of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) and had previously survived two attempted killings. This attack occurred days after two JUI-F leaders were shot dead in Khuzdar. The incident is currently under investigation.
