💨 Abstract

In Stilfontein, South Africa, at least 78 people died in an illegal gold mine during a police siege. The miners were undocumented and were being forced up to the surface as part of a crackdown on illegal mining. Rescuers have pulled up 78 dead bodies and 246 survivors, who have been arrested and charged with illegal immigration and mining.
