💨 Abstract

Three well-preserved mastodon fossils from the Ice Age have been discovered in Peru, potentially the most preserved mastodon remains in the country. These mammoth-like creatures, believed to be around 11,000-12,000 years old, were found in the Andes, hinting at their migration from North America in search of food and water as climate conditions changed.
