Following a dam burst in south-west Poland, the town of Stronie Slaskie, with 5,000 residents, suffered severe flooding—one of the worst in Central Europe in over two decades. A local ice cream shop owner, Miroslaw Wegrzyn, found his shop full of mud and dislodged machinery. The floods destroyed homes and cars, leaving streets covered with debris.
