💨 Abstract

Russia's Wagner group announced the recovery of bodies of its mercenaries killed in a July battle with Tuareg rebels and Islamists in Mali during a desert sandstorm. The battle took place in a region where military authorities have been battling an Islamist insurgency. Wagner said its fighters passed through a desert area near Tinzaouaten in north Mali, teeming with Azawad militants.
