In the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, two sailors died due to separate incidents involving sail booms on Friday. The boats involved were identified as Flying Fish Arctos and Bowline. The names of the deceased crew members have not been disclosed. Several boats had to retire due to bad weather, leaving Law Connect as the new race leader. Organisers will hold a press conference later in the day.
