💨 Abstract
On March 30, Tonga Islands was hit by two earthquakes, one of magnitude 7.0 and another of 6.1, both occurring at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are more dangerous due to stronger ground shaking and increased damage. The Tonga Trench, where the Pacific and Australian plates meet, is a seismogenic region with approximately 200 earthquakes annually.
