💨 Abstract
Fifteen whales restranded and six died after a mass stranding at Farewell Spit, New Zealand. Initially, 55 whales were stranded, with most refloated. Volunteers are working to refloat the rest and keep them cool until high tide. Farewell Spit is known for whale strandings and is a remote area with limited facilities. Volunteers are advised to bring supplies.
