South African authorities are investigating a mass shooting in the Eastern Cape province that left 17 people dead, mostly women, in the rural village of Lusikisiki. Police are searching for the suspects and no motive has been established. The high murder rate in South Africa, with about 20,000 murders recorded annually, is among the highest in the world.
