💨 Abstract
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Firoz Cachalia, a veteran Indian-origin activist, as the new Minister of Police. This move follows the placing of the current minister, Senzo Mchunu, on special leave amid serious allegations of colluding with criminal cartels. The allegations were made by Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who claimed that Mchunu interfered with investigations and collaborated with criminals.
