Sri Lanka's newly elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has dissolved parliament, calling for a snap general election on Nov. Dissanayake, a Marxist-leaning politician, aims to seek a fresh mandate for his policies. The move comes after his coalition, the National People’s Party, held only three of 225 seats in the current parliament.
