Storm John, now a tropical depression, has caused catastrophic flash flooding and mudslides in southern Mexico, particularly in Guerrero and Michoacan states. The remnants of the storm have poured nearly 100 cm (39 inches) of rain, almost tripling last year's Hurricane Otis downpour.
