💨 Abstract
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that federal judges cannot issue nationwide injunctions to block executive orders. The 6-3 decision, written by conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett, does not address the legality of Trump's birthright citizenship restriction. The ruling narrowed universal injunctions issued by Maryland, Massachusetts, and Washington state, allowing some of Trump's policies, including cuts to sanctuary cities and suspensions of refugee resettlement, to proceed.
