💨 Abstract

A Swiss citizen, who had been living in southern Africa, died by suicide in an Iranian prison after being arrested on suspicion of espionage while traveling as a tourist in Iran. Switzerland is demanding detailed information from Iranian authorities regarding the man's arrest and circumstances of his death, and is seeking the repatriation of his body. This incident follows a pattern of Iran arresting foreigners, mostly on charges related to espionage, as alleged by rights groups.
