A 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in Hualien, Taiwan's east coast, with no immediate damage reported. The earthquake, located 17 km deep, was followed by thousands of aftershocks since a similar incident in April. Taiwan, situated at the junction of two tectonic plates, experiences frequent earthquakes.
