Taiwan President Lai Ching-te is optimistic about strengthening ties with Japan's ruling party under Shigeru Ishiba's leadership, following Ishiba's victory as LDP leader. Both leaders have a strong relationship, and Lai hopes for increased collaboration under Ishiba's leadership. Taiwan's foreign ministry has already extended congratulations to Ishiba on behalf of the government.
