💨 Abstract
In the Brazilian Amazon, thirteen people have died in gang violence over four days in Porto Velho, capital of Rondonia state. Gang members have clashed with police, leading to the deployment of federal troops to help contain the violence. The Comando Vermelho, a powerful gang initially based in Rio de Janeiro, has expanded to the Amazon region.
