Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that the new Syrian administration should be given an opportunity to address the Kurdish militant presence in the country, but warned that the Turkish military would intervene if necessary. The YPG militia, a Kurdish group controlling Syria's northeast, is a key U.S. ally in the fight against ISIS but is considered a terrorist organization by Turkey.
