Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna, who documented life under Russian occupation in Crimea and Mariupol, died in Russian detention. She was 28 and had been held since August 2023. Officials confirmed her death, but the circumstances are unknown. Roshchyna had been on a list for prisoner exchange before her transfer to Moscow from Taganrog. At least 17 journalists have been killed while reporting on the war in Ukraine.
