💨 Abstract

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has made concessions to dissenting Labour lawmakers over planned welfare cuts, aiming to prevent a parliamentary rebellion. More than 100 Labour MPs opposed the reforms, arguing they lack support for disabled people and those with long-term health conditions. Starmer agreed to limit the cuts to new welfare claimants, leaving existing recipients of Personal Independent Payments (PIP) unaffected.
