💨 Abstract

The UN refugee chief, Filippo Grandi, urged countries to abandon border measures blocking refugees and migrants, stating they are ineffective and sometimes illegal. He called for addressing the root causes of displacement and finding solutions, while offering help to implement fair, fast, and legal asylum schemes. Grandi also appealed for increased support for Sudanese refugees, as their lack of resources is driving them to dangerous crossings.
