💨 Abstract

Venezuela's National Assembly, allied with the government, declared UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Turk persona non grata. It was after Turk criticized the country for arbitrary detentions, forced disappearances, and other alleged human rights violations. The Maduro government has dismissed Turk's claims and pointed out his lack of advocacy for Venezuelans deported to El Salvador and separated minors in the U.S.
