In March, the U.S. deported Venezuelans alleged to be part of the Tren de Aragua gang to a high-security prison in El Salvador using the 1798 Alien Enemies Act. On May 9, a video published by One America News Network (OANN) showed the detainees shouting "freedom" and signaling for help. Former U.S. lawmaker Matt Gaetz and Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna visited the prison and filmed the scene.
