💨 Abstract
The world's first commercial-scale e-methanol plant started operations in Denmark. The plant, a joint venture between European Energy and Mitsui, will produce 42,000 metric tons of e-methanol annually using renewable energy and captured CO2. Shipping giant Maersk will be a major customer, using the fuel for its dual-fuel methanol container ships. The plant aims to achieve price parity with fossil methanol by 2035.
