💨 Abstract
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced plans to re-establish diplomatic ties with Syria, following a visit from Ukrainian Foreign and Agriculture ministers. The move comes after the overthrow of the Russia-backed Syrian government. Ukraine had previously cut ties due to Syrian recognition of Russia-occupied territories in eastern Ukraine. The decision is part of Ukraine's efforts to build ties with the new Islamist rulers in Syria.
