💨 Abstract

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) commenced the 2025 tax season on 7 July, sending auto-assessment notices to taxpayers. Some received refunds quickly, while others faced confusion, particularly if they disagreed with the auto-assessment. SARS advised those who disagree to file corrected returns promptly. Manual filing starts on 21 July. Taxpayers are responsible for verifying the accuracy of their returns to avoid delays, incorrect refunds, or penalties.
