💨 Abstract
The Irma Stern Museum at the University of Cape Town (UCT) closed permanently on October 31, 2025, ending a 56-year partnership. While the closure shocked the South African art world, the museum’s collection—including paintings, sculptures, and artifacts—will be preserved and displayed in new ways starting in 2026. The collection, originally housed in Stern’s former home, "The Firs," will be moved to a secure facility.
